Sustainable Urbanism, BS

The mission of the Sustainable Urbanism Program is to study the dynamics of the built environment and its shortcomings so that students can imagine and propose pathways to provide resources for all humanity and to protect our shared habitat. The program’s goals emphasize searching for solutions to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which include sustainable cities and communities, life on land, life on water, climate action, and good health and well-being. The program aims to produce holistic thinkers who (a) study the built environment and its relationship to the societies that inhabit it, (b) learn multidisciplinary tactics and strategies to transform the built environment, (c) investigate how to provide resources that enable societies to flourish, including affordable housing, potable water, green spaces, digital access, and safety from ecological hazards, (d) create urban development proposals for achieving socio-ecological goals that address climate change and (e) conduct research in the field of the built environment.
