Sustainable Urbanism Minor

The Minor in Sustainable Urbanism provides students with a strong foundation in the principles and practices essential to creating sustainable, resilient, and equitable urban environments. This program introduces students to the core concepts of urbanism and sustainability, encouraging them to critically examine the built environment and its impact on urban communities and ecological systems. With an emphasis on both academic study and hands-on learning, the minor equips students with analytical and design tools to address urgent urban challenges—such as affordable housing, resource management, and environmental resilience—and prepares them to advocate for cities that are sustainable, inclusive, and responsive to diverse populations. Through exploring strategies aligned with global goals like the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, students gain the skills to propose urban solutions that promote social equity, environmental stewardship, and quality of life across communities.
