BMEN 6640 Bone Mechanics

The objective of the course is to provide students with an opportunity to pursue an in depth examination into current methods and results in bone mechanics research. Of particular interest is the study of the anatomy and physiology of bone tissue, the stress-strain behavior of cortical and cancellous bone, the fatigue behavior of bone, and the response of living bone to disease, foreign materials, and to mechanical loading. Both the methods and the results of bone mechanics research will be studied, and computer simulations of bone adaptation to mechanical loads are performed.
