Five courses (minimum of 15 credits) are required for the minor in Brazilian studies.

Furthermore, students must take at least three Portuguese language courses which do not count as electives. This requirement will be waived if at least two of the electives are taught in the Portuguese language, relate to Brazil, and are at the 300 level or higher. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in study abroad programs in São Paulo and Salvador, Bahia, yet at least half of the electives must be completed at Tulane University.
